In 1970 Huize van Wely was handed over by Cees Booij to his son Pieter Booij, who is obsessed with pastry and chocolate. Under the leadership of Mr. Booij, founder of Huize van Wely as we know it today, the company grew strongly and gained international fame.

In 1950 Huize van Wely came into the hands of the Booij family. Cees Booij, father of Pieter Booij, had a pastry shop, just like Van Wely, located in Wormerveer. When his shop burned down, he bought Huize van Wely in 1950, which at that time was for sale because of the death of Mr. Van Wely in 1948. One condition of the widow Van Wely was that the name would remain unchanged.
The founder of Huize van Wely opened the doors of the pastry shop in 1922 at the Hoofdstraat in Noordwijk, where Huize van Wely is still located today.
